2013-2014 Schedule

Meeting # 1:
Speaker:

Web:

Marc Chaikin

Founder and CEO, Chaikin Analytics

www.chaikinanalytics.com

Date: Sep 17, 2013
Time: 7:00 p.m. (Registration 6:30)
Duration: 2 hours +/-
Location: Crowne Plaza
Topic:

After more than 40 years on Wall Street, stock market expert Marc Chaikin founded Chaikin Analytics to deliver proven, institutional-quality stock analytics to professional money managers and self-directed investors. The centerpiece is the Chaikin Power Gauge rating, an unbiased, proprietary 20-factor model that distills masses of information into simple green/red ratings.

A trader, broker, and fundamental and quantitative analyst, Chaikin invented three technical trading signals, the Chaikin Oscillator, the Chaikin Accumulation/Distribution Indicator and the Chaikin Persistency of Money Flow, which is the basis of Investor’s Business Daily’s Accumulation/Distribution Rating. Their predictive value has made them de facto standards in most technical analysis software packages world-wide. Chaikin also pioneered the first real-time analytics workstation for institutional money managers and trading desks, now part of Thomson Reuters’ institutional workstation.

Marc appears on CNBC, Bloomberg and Fox Business News and is a contributor to both Forbes and MarketWatch.

Meeting # 2:
Speaker:

Adam Grimes
Chief Investment Officer, Waverly Advisors
www.waverlyadvisors.com
 adamhgrimes.com/blog/
Date: Oct 15, 2013
Time: 7:00 p.m. (Registration 6:30)
Duration: 2 hours +/-
Location: Crowne Plaza
Topic: The Quantitative Discretionary Trader

Adam Grimes has 18 years of experience in the industry as a trader, analyst and system developer.  Prior to joining Waverly Advisors, Adam held the positions of VP of Quantitative System Development at Level Partners, LLC, Senior Analyst and Trader at MBF Asset Management. Adam is the author of "The Art & Science of Technical Analysis: Market Structure, Price Action & Trading Strategies", a book published Q1 2012 by John Wiley & Sons.  Adam is also a contributing author for several publications on quantitative finance and related topics.  A graduate of the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, Adam is an expert in applying quantitative tools and methodology to market data, particularly in modeling volatility and complex inter-market relationships. Adam's experience as a trader includes futures, equities, currencies, and derivatives, in time frames ranging from intraday to mult-month swings.  Though he is primarily a discretionary swing trader, his methodology rests on  a firm foundation of statistical and quantitative research.

His book "The Art and Science of Technical Analysis" is a groundbreaking work that bridges the gaps between the academic view of markets, technical analysis, and profitable trading.   It  explores how randomness prevails in markets most, but not all, of the time and how technical analysis can be used to capture statistically validated patterns in certain types of market conditions. The belief of the book is that buying and selling pressure causes patterns in prices, but that these technical patterns are only effective in the presence of true buying/selling imbalance.

Mr. Grimes work is supported by extensive statistical analysis of the markets, which will debunk some tools and patterns such as Fibonacci analysis, and endorse other tools and trade setups. In addition, this reliable resource discusses trader psychology and trader learning curves based on the author's extensive experience as a trader and trainer of traders.
