2016-2017 Schedule

Meeting # 1:
Speaker: Mark Sachs
www.rightlinetrading.com

Date: September 20, 2016
Time: 7:00 p.m. (Registration 6:30)
Duration: 2 hours +/-
Location: Crowne Plaza
Topic:

A new analytic paradigm for predicting price direction

Ninety five percent of all new day-traders and swing traders fail. This number has not improved over the course of the last 20 years. The reason is that they accept a priori the same trading methodology of their predecessors.  That is, a trading methodology that does not stand up to rigorous mathematical testing: it fails to increase the precision of a trading entry (positive predictive value).

At Right Line Trading our indicator analysis does not utilize data from your trading chart. Instead, it turns to data assimilated from multiple higher time frames and multiple correlative markets. The system has been optimized utilizing multi-variable algorithmic equations and subjected to extensive “forward” testing: the sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive value of a system generated trading entry have been clearly defined. The final result is a software system with the proven ability to predict the future price direction of any trading instrument with outstanding accuracy.

Bio:   Dr. Mark Sachs is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a former professor at Jefferson College, Philadelphia. He has published over 15 articles in top tier journals. Dr. Sachs has been involved in the financial markets for over 20 years. His area of expertise is the optimization of multi-variable equations.     He has applied his knowledge and experience to the movement of price in the equities market.   Dr. Sachs has succeeded in describing market movement via the use of a complex multi-variable equation in which all relevant independent variables have been characterized and optimized. Via this equation the sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive value of each trading entry is known. Analysis of market movement is always performed on a multi-time frame basis.

Right Line Trading Software is the product of over a decade of analysis of price action, market structure and indicator algorithms.   This software is one of the fastest growing trading systems on NinjaTrader.

Time: 7:00 p.m. (Registration 6:30)
Duration: 2 hours +/-
Location: Crown Plaza
Topic 1: Free Cash Flow: A Reliable Anchor In Post-Election Storms

Free cash flow has proven to be a dependable metric to measure the overall economic health of a company, especially when determining whether it has the resources to protect and grow its business. Corporate management has too much discretion in reporting revenues, expenses and intangibles. In contrast, free cash flow stands as an absolute measure of a corporation's financial wellbeing: cash in the bank does not lie.

With a clear potential for a considerable increase post-election volatility (regardless of the ultimate presidential election winner and an more deeply divided Congress), investors should focus on reliable market metrics that can help them ride out any potential turbulence on the investment horizon.

Ted's presentation will offer a detailed examination of TrimTabs Asset Management's battle tested methodology. It focuses on free cash flow, along with a requirement that companies maintain strong balance sheets. Additionally, we seek companies which are reducing their share count, leaving us with a bigger piece of the pie. This approach has delivered outperformance for our clients since inception in 2011.

The TrimTabs investment process is firmly guided by quantitative disciplines. We think that you will find our approach different, but also sophisticated, compared to most quant approaches.

Ted will be available both before the meeting on November 15th or on November 16th to meet with you in person to discuss in further detail the TrimTabs Investment Strategy. Please contact him (ted.theodore@trimtabsfunds.com) to schedule an appropriate time.

Meeting #6:

Doug Campbell

Date:
Feb 21, 2016
Time: 7:00 p.m. (Registration 6:30)
Duration: 2 hours +/-
Location: Crowne Plaza
Topic:

Bio:        Doug Campbell has been trading for more than 25 years.  He says however many of those early years were filled with frustration and struggle.  Doug like many traders, spent years on a quest to find the Holy Grail indicator and trade set-up that would bring the success he desired.  He was the classic definition of a Yo-Yo trader, having periods of great results followed by even longer periods where he would give back all of his gains and then some.

Although Doug threatened to give up trading many times, his dream of trading full time kept him pushing relentlessly forward toward his goal.  He became a dedicated student of price action and simplified his trading.  Doug tossed out all of the indicators, gave up the idea of predicting price action, and got back to the basics of pattern recognition and trend following.

As a husband, father of 2 and owner of a small construction company his progress was agonizingly slow.  Today as a full-time trader of more than 10 years, a market educator, and trading coach, he is grateful for the lessons learned during those years of struggle.

Doug runs the Right Way Options service in conjunction with Hit & Run Candlesticks trading room, founded by his friend Rick Saddler.   At Hit & Run Candlesticks and Right Way Options, we believe a quality education is a key to success.  With that in mind, I am honored to have the opportunity to share with you, my simple approach to options trading that has thus far delivered a win/loss ratio of better than 70%.  Straight talk on options trading without all the hype.  I look forward to sharing with you soon.

Our Next Event

Meeting # 8:
Speaker:  Corey Rosenbloom

Date: April 18, 2016
Time: 7:00 p.m. (Registration 6:30)
Duration: 2 hours +/-
Location: Crowne Plaza
Topic:

Building Modern Trades from Foundational Price Principles

With today's markets rapidly moving from catalyst to catalyst, it can be helpful to go "back to basics" and study the price principles that have worked in all markets, all timeframes.  No matter what market you trade, you can benefit from adapting your current trading strategy or model to incorporate one or more of these core principles.

Corey will walk you through the main principles of Charles Dow, Ralph Elliott, Richard Wyckoff and more as he builds the "Three Core Price Principles to use in today's market."

Using this as a departure point, he will then draw from his 16 years of trading experience to detail tactics of basic retracement and breakout strategies you can start using now.

Finally, Corey will offer you access to see how he analyzes the markets and trades these strategies in his membership services for Afraid to Trade.

Bio:     “Let’s overcome fear and engage in one of the most challenging, exciting, and rewarding activities out there!”
Mr. Rosenbloom’s interest in the stock market began as a junior in High School where his team won an investment challenge competition which drew him into investing actual money in the market using basic fundamental analysis.  Later, the Bear Market of the early 2000s would challenge these assumptions and force him into deeper study of market concepts – “There had to be a better way than Buy and Hold strategies”.

He was soon introduced to the concepts of price charting, or more formally known as “Technical Analysis” and the pattern recognition, along with indicator combinations, drew his attention sharply in that direction.  As the market began its recovery, he was participating as a momentum intraday trader, which soon gave way to broader swing-trading strategies.  He describes one of many “light-bulb” moments when he was introduced to Sector Rotation Concepts which seemed to make the price charts fit into a logical progression of expectations.  From there, he deployed options trading strategies which gave way to ETF trading, which itself finally gave way to active futures market trading tactics.

Mr. Rosenbloom holds a bachelor’s degree in both Psychology (cognitive research focus) and Political Science and later received a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs with a Business concentration.  He has completed Levels I, II, and III of the Market Technician’s Association’s Chartered Market Technician (CMT) program.

He currently serves as an independent consultant, analyst, author, and educator.  He manages both personal and family accounts using the concepts he teaches, employing both long-term and active intraday trading strategies.
