Quantitative Momentum

Systematic investment strategies always seem to look good on paper, but many fall down in practice.   Momentum investing is one of the few systematic strategies that has been shown to beat the market, withstanding the test of time and the rigor of academic investigation.   Dr. Gray will provide invaluable guidance on constructing your own momentum strategy from the ground up.
o  Learn what momentum is and is not.
o  Discover how momentum can beat the market.
o  Take momentum beyond asset allocation into stock selection
o  Access the tools that ease DIY implementation

Large Wall Street hedge funds tend to portray themselves as the sophisticated elite, but momentum investing allows you to 'borrow' one of their top strategies to enrich your own portfolio.

4, 2017
Time: 7:00 p.m. (Registration 6:30)
Duration: 2 hours +/-
Location: Crowne Plaza
Topic: Temporal  Portfolio Theory - It's About Time - And Improving Odds

Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT) was developed long before computers were available for analyzing daily market data. Thus, MPT’s development was inherently limited to long-term statistical analysis of portfolios and resulted in relatively simplistic buy-and-hold diversification models. However, academic and industry studies have both long shown market data contains trend information that can be used to improve the probability of making better investment decisions. Temporal Portfolio Theory extends MPT by integrating the cross-disciplinary sciences of Matched Filter Theory, Differential Signal Processing, Fuzzy Logic, and Holistic Risk Management within a layered Portfolio-of-Strategies framework to measurably improve both risk and return performance. We’ll review the technical details of each of these and examine how they contribute to improved risk and return performance in a few fairly simple portfolios.

Mike Turner

Feb 20, 201
Time: 7:00 p.m. (Registration 6:30)
Duration: 2 hours +/-
Location: Crowne Plaza

How to always know whether to be bullish, bearish or go to cash.

Do you find yourself guessing about what the market is going to do in the future?  What is North Korea going to do? What is Trump going to do? What will the Fed do next? Will the tax plan get through Congress?  Will it work?  What is going to happen to the dollar? Will we be attacked by terrorists? A correction is long overdue, so should I hedge my bets in the market? Will the next correction be a buying opportunity or the precursor to something worse?  Is now the time to sit on cash or be fully invested?  You hear forecasts and talking heads giving one opinion after another… they are ALL guessing.  No one knows the future, but that does not mean you have to guess one way or the other.  I will show you how to follow my “Three Immutable Laws of Investing” and never have to guess what the market is going to do.  I will show you why Jack Bogle, Jeremy Siegel, Mark Skousen and Warren Buffett (along with virtually all asset managers) try to talk you into one of the riskiest investment strategies ever created: buy-and-hold.  I will also show you why trying to time market tops and bottoms is a fool’s game.  The financial world wants you to think there are only two choices: buy-and-hold or market-timing.  There is a far, far better, safer and more profitable way to invest in the stock market (and, no, it’s not options, futures, FOREX or… shudder… annuities).  Spend an evening with me and I will change the way you think about, and invest in, the stock market forever.  I will show you how to consistently measure the market and position your holdings accordingly so that you will always be on the right side of the market and never get caught unprepared in the next bear market. The process I will show you is not magic, and it is not opinion. It is math, rules, and discipline. You will learn how to never fear putting your money to work in the stock market and always know when to be bullish, in cash, or bearish.

Speaker Bio:

Turner Capital Investments’ Founder and Chief Trading Strategist is Mike Turner.  His formal education is Engineering, Computer Science and Finance.  He is a 20-year veteran in the field of sophisticated software systems development and by more than 15 years in the field of finance and stock market strategies.

Trading Price Action – No Indicators, No Oscillators – just price!

The key to all trading is understanding supply and demand, and how to best quantify supply and demand on a proce chart.  When one truly understands how to identify fair value price areas and areas of infilled order flow they will become more adept at reading charts in any timeframe and in any market!

Chuck has a passion for helping people achieve the life they choose to live, not just the one they have to. As the founder of IIE Financial, he uses his knowledge and 15+ years of experience to build active investment strategies that fit into the firm’s overall mission to help clients achieve long term financial health. He was introduced to the financial markets early in his career by a group of friends and colleagues that were experienced in the industry and were making a positive difference in the lives of others. The desire to learn more about how markets work led to him to become an insurance specialist before finding his passion as a financial educator.

The financial industry’s traditional investment approach and lack of effective risk management led him to develop investment solutions that could reduce risk while providing the returns needed for clients to achieve the life they desired. Chuck began teaching for the world’s largest international trading and investing education academy, eventually becoming Director of both instructor and student development.  During his time with the academy he personally taught over 10,000 students all over the world in many different capacities, including but not limited to short and long term trading and investing using asset classes such as stocks, options, futures, forex, etc. in both physical classrooms and online while also directing a team of 100+ global instructors.

During his time teaching classes about Stocks, Options, Futures, Forex, Real Estate, and Portfolio Management he discovered that many of the investors who came to learn were really just looking for a better solution to their problem.  They were really looking for someone that would manage their assets in a way that would increase probability, decrease risk, and give them true diversification.  Chuck founded IIE Financial with the mission statement  “willing the good of another” and his unique investment systems because of those countless investors who were eager for a very crucial solution to a very common problem.

Chuck lives in Houston TX with his wife Annie and two young boys. He enjoys spending time with family, golfing in the beautiful Houston weather, and serving his Church community.
