AfTA    The Association for Technical Analysis

Brief Description:  Provides members and the DFW trading/investing community with current information and education on technical analysis. Nationally known, knowledgeable speakers provide interesting and informed presentations on their specific areas of expertise.  Subjects covered may include stocks, e-mini’s, options, forex, commodities, mutual funds. 

Meets:   3rd  Tuesday of each month from Sept to May

Time:      7:00 pm  - 9:00pm      registration at 6:30 pm

Cost:    $25/meeting as a guest,  $100/year for membership gets you all nine meetings

AfTA    Active Trader Special Interest Group  (SIG)

Brief Description: Meets the Saturday after the monthly AfTA meeting to discuss active trading of stocks, index futures, options, etc.  Most discussions are pertinent to shorter time frames, from day trading to swing trading.  

Meets:   The Saturday following the 3rd Tuesday of each month from Sept to May

Time:      10:30 am  - 12:30pm     

Place:  Room 310  Baylor College of Dentistry   3302 Gaston Avenue, Dallas

  Enter building thru basement entrance (near the intersection of Hall and Nussbaumer streets).  Can park free in garage off Nussbaumer Street.

AAII  The American Association of Individual Investors

Brief Description:  Meets to discuss topics of interest to stock, bond, mutual fund, and ETF investors.  Topics discussed include stock selection, asset allocation, investment strategies, portfolio management, the economic outlook and the effects of that on the markets, and tax issues related to investing.  Speakers may be nationally recognized or local.

Brief Description:  Three Mutual Fund/ETF subgroups of AAII which meet to discuss investing in mutual funds/ETFs and related topics.  You do not need to be a member of AAII to attend the subgroup meetings.

Dallas Investor’s Forum (DIF)

Brief Description:  Dallas Investors Forum is an entity that brings together equity investors and their ideas that are tradable Monday morning. It is an open forum that encourages discussion and interaction with all guests for their investment of choice. This "idea farm" strongly stresses discussions on subjects of stocks, options, and mutual funds. Presentations are made by  professional guests such as Alon Energy, Devon Energy, Vice Fund, VanEck Natural Resources Fund, and Strategic Investing (Fred Richards who uses concepts as found in Investors Business Daily) plus many others. Equally important are the ideas that you as a participant may discuss at each meeting for the benefit of the entire group. 

Meets:   1st/3rd/5th Saturdays of each month

DIF Mutual Fund and ETF SIG

Brief Description:  Is a subgroup of the Dallas Investor’s Forum.  Meets to discuss ETFs and mutual funds that are winners and losers, their associated fees and possible trading restrictions, and the best ways of purchasing them.  Bring an idea.

Meets:   4th Saturday of each month

Time:     9:30am - 11:00am

Place:   The DIF Mutual Fund and ETF SIG has changed its location to the Italian Pasta Restaurant at the SW corner of Josey and Valley View Lane in Farmers Branch.

 Cost:    None, but please buy coffee or something from the restaurant

Dallas FastTrack Users Group

Brief Description:  Meets to discuss ETFs and Mutual Funds with emphasis on investment selection, trade management, and market timing.  There are both presentations and roundtable discussions.

Meets:   2nd/4th Tuesdays of each month  (2nd Tuesday in November and December)

Time:      6:30pm – 9:00pm

Place:  Texins Activity Center on TI complex at Central and LBJ in Dallas

Dallas VectorVest User Group

Brief Description:

Our goal is to:
a) Promote the understanding of the VectorVest software and its many features
b) Focus on trading concepts and how to develop, simulate (backtest) and papertrade them
c) Challenge the philosophical assumptions of buy and hold investing
d) Facilitate discussion and dialogue over these issues in a warm, friendly, and open atmosphere

Dallas TC Net/TC 2007 Users Group

Brief Description:  The group meets to discuss stocks and trading systems from a technical (charting) perspective.  The format consists of presentations and interactive group discussions.  Everyone is encouraged to express their opinions. Guest speakers are frequently invited to share their trading systems and philosophies.  You do not need to be a user of TCNet/TC 2007 to attend.  Meets for lunch afterwards at John’s Cafe.  For monthly notifications of meeting topics, speakers, parking instructions, and directions send your email address to Dchristensen@bcd.tamhsc.edu
